Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 spied up close in Chennai

Expected to go on sale this year.

As we have known for quite some time now, Royal Enfield is developing a more powerful of the Royal Enfield Continental GT and testing it in India and Europe. This variant is referred to as the Royal Enfield GT 750 and was recently spotted by Rishath Suresh from Bikes India in Chennai.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 will compete with the Harley Davidson Street 750.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 has the chassis from the Royal Enfield Continental GT, but it gets an extended sub-frame which means that some design changes are likely for the more potent model. The 750 cc variant gets clubman handlebars unlike the 535 cc variant, which features clip-on handlebars. The rev count in single digits suggests this model is probably an international-spec test mule, as in the Indian-spec 535 cc variant we get the tachometer with rev counts in tens digits.

The Royal Enfield GT 750 will get its power from the 750 cc twin-cylinder engine. Instead of liquid cooling, Royal Enfield plans to use an oil-cooler for this mill. While the 535 cc engine produces around 29 hp, the 750 cc engine is expected to produce around 45-60 hp. 17-inch wheels are likely on the 750 cc variant, with a 120 section tyre at the front and a 160 section tyre at the rear.

The more powerful variant gets several notable changes such as higher positioning of the rear turn indicators, top positioning of the gas charged shocks, left side placement of the chain and sprocket and dual exhausts. It's reported to have a 270-degree firing order.

750 cc engine is expected to produce around 45-60 hp.

Royal Enfield has not released a date for when it plans to launch the Royal Enfield Continental GT 750. However, it is known that the company plans to launch one new product per year till 2018 and it's likely the Continental GT 750 is the model slated for this year.
