Royal Enfield Continental GT with 750cc 2-cyl engine caught on test - Spied

Would be the most powerful engine for the brand.

This spyshot shows a twin-cylinder engine powering a Royal Enfield Continental GT. Not a work of modification, but the source report suggests that Royal Enfield is indeed testing out this larger engine which is based on the new engine family.

The new engine, when launched, will power a range of models thanks to its compact dimensions.

The inline twin-cylinder engine seen here would be the most powerful for the brand upon launch. Engineers are taking special care to reduce the vibrations, and to make this unit as refined as possible. A new oil-cooling system would sort out prevalent issues with over-heating.

The report states that Royal Enfield will opt for the traditional carburetor-fed system, and not a fuel-injection unit. The publication states that the engine will produce power and torque in the whereabouts of 45-50 bhp and 60 Nm respectively.

Despite being a large engine, it is compact enough to fit the Continental GT, which further hints that the company may be planning a range of models that will be powered by this unit. However, the exact models (cruisers, adventure bikes, or even Cafe Racers like the Continental GT) are a bit of a mystery.

The engine is reported to make between 45-50 bhp.

CEOs of Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson routinely state that they do not compete with each other, as even the most affordable Harley is twice the cost of the most expensive Enfield. However, if the Chennai-based company goes ahead with this 750 cc engine, Milwaukee could have a reason to worry.
