IAB Report - Royal Enfield Continental GT launched at 2.05 lakhs

Royal Enfield today launched the much awaited Continental GT at a gala event in Goa. RE has priced the Continental GT at Rs 2.05 lakhs (on-road, New Delhi) and 2.14 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With the bike, Royal Enfield aims to bring back the "cafe racer" culture that was prevalent in the 1960s in UK.

Equipped with a 535 cc engine built on the same Unit Construction Engine (UCE) platform that is used on the Classic and Thunderbird series, the Continental GT enjoys a power output of 29.1 bhp and a peak torque of 44 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. For the full specifications, refer attached document below.

Purists will appreciate the near-naked double tube cradle chassis, complete with a front telescopic 41 mm forks, with a travel of up to 110 mm, and rear twin gas-charged shockers, with 80 mm travel, from Paioli. The chassis has been developed by the legendary Harris Performance from UK. After a brief ride, it's easy to see how the chassis' construction allows the rider to easily and quickly shift direction, without much resistance from the bike.

The list of specifications stands rich on the Continental GT. Apart from the rear shockers from Italian manufacturer Paioli, front and rear disc brakes come from Brembo, with local manufacturer Fiem providing the lights and indicators.
