Ban lifted on Royal Enfield Himalayan, Bajaj V, Suzuki Access in Delhi
Two-wheelers launched after April 1, 2016 need to comply with BS-4 regulations.
New Delhi's transport department has lifted the ban prohibiting the registration of new BS-3 compliant two-wheelers in the city. Thus, sale and registration of newly-launched products such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan, Suzuki Access and Bajaj V will now take place in the capital.
The ban, which was imposed earlier in the month, stated that newly-launched two-wheelers need to comply with BS-4 emission regulations, even though an earlier ruling mandated that two-wheelers launched before April 1, 2016 need to comply with BS-4 regulations only by April 1, 2017. However, two-wheelers launched post April 1, 2016 will have to comply with BS-4 emission regulations right from the date of launch.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan was launched on March 16 for an ex-Showroom, Maharashtra price of INR 1.55 lakhs, and an on-road Mumbai price of INR 1.78 lakhs. It is powered by a 411 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine capable of 24.5 PS at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm at 4,000-4,500 rpm, paired to a 5-speed gearbox.
The new Suzuki Access costs INR 53,887 ex-Showroom, New Delhi and is powered by a 124 cc air-cooled single-cylinder SOHC engine capable of 8.7 PS at 7,000 rpm and 10.2 Nm at 5,000 rpm.
The Bajaj V uses a 149.5 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with DTS-i technology. It costs INR 61,999 ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
