Royal Enfield Himalayan snapped ahead of launch - Spied
Expected in Q1 2016.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been spied again on a test tour. It appears to be the near-production version of the adventure tourer that is expected to be launched at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, in February.
The Himalayan will be the first attempt at an adventure tourer by the Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturing company. It is expected to be powered by one of the two new engines the company is developing for its upcoming products. The Himalayan would be powered by the smaller engine, which is believed to be a 410 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with an oil-cooler. It is expected to produce around 24 bhp and 30 Nm, and it would be mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to be launched in two variants, one for city use and another for touring and mild off-roading. Both versions would be powered by the same engine in the same tune, while the differences would be a heightened fork and a sizable windshield on the latter, apart from minor cosmetic changes.

Both models are expected to use the same Ceat tyres while Pirelli rubbers may be offered as an optional extra. Like higher-segment adventure tourers, the Himalayan will ride on a smaller rear wheel.
