Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 gets scrambler exhaust [VIDEO]

Previously, Termignoni Exhaust Systems had announced a scrambler style exhaust for the RE Interceptor 650. The system from the Italian brand is not available in India, but the folks at Way2Speed Performance have a solution for owners in our market.

Way2Speed Performance has created its own scrambler style exhaust that sits higher than the stock units. The high placement improves the water wading capability of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The new exhaust system also features a single-sided layout instead of twin-sided pipes on the standard motorcycle. The new setup gives the neo-classic roadster an off-road ready persona. Apart from enhancing the styling, the new exhaust system is claimed to shed 11 kg of weight from the Interceptor INT 650, thus giving the motorcycle an improved power-to-weight ratio.

The aftermarket exhaust comes with three levels of heat shield to address concerns about the system causing discomfort to the rider. The system works with the existing map and does not require any modifications to the ECU. A baffle ensures that the exhaust isn’t too noisy to attract the attention of the authorities. Removing the baffle is claimed to deliver sporty growl to the motorcycle.

Changes to the performance numbers are not mentioned and thus assume that the Interceptor INT 650, with the new exhaust, continues to deliver the same power output as the standard model. The parallel-twin cylinder, 648 cc, air & oil cooled, SOHC engine with fuel injection technology delivers 47 bhp of power at 7,250 rpm and 52 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm. As the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 shares its underpinnings and engine with the Continental GT 650, the aftermarket system can be used on the cafe racer as well.

The tall-set aftermarket exhaust from Way2Speed adds a scrambler styling to the Interceptor INT 650.

Meanwhile, High Note Performance has announced that it will be importing the S&S exhaust system for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. Royal Enfield offers S&S exhaust as an official accessory with the 650 Twins in select international markets. However, the system has not made it to the Indian market as an official accessory.
