Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 first service costs detailed in a video

Royal Enfield launched the 650 Twins in India in November 2018, priced from INR 2.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi. A customer (Youtuber - IdlerExperiments) has now shared the first service cost of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, which is not as exorbitant as the BMW G 310 R.

The first 'free' service for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has cost INR 2,578, which includes charges for the oil change, oil filter and chain cleaning. While every manufacturer offers 3-4 free services, it only comprises zero labour costs while all the consumables are chargeable.

According to the service invoice, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 requires 3.1 litres of engine oil, which costs INR 2,012, while the engine oil filter is priced at INR 450. Furthermore, the chain cleaning and lube service are charged at INR 116, taking the total bill amount to INR 2,578. For a 650cc twin-cylinder motorcycle, the first service cost seems to be quite affordable.

The second service, pegged at an interval of 10,000 km, could witness higher costs, depending on the kind of work carried out. That said, having a longer service interval of 10,000 km, speaks volumes about Royal Enfield's confidence in its new product. It would be interesting to notice the maintenance costs once paid services commence.
