Royal Enfield to hike prices by up to 2% - Report
Royal Enfield will hike the prices of its motorcycles in India on 1 February, according to a new report from Bikewale.
The source report claims that the prices will be increased by around 1-2 per cent. In monetary terms, the hike will be in the range of INR 1,500 to INR 2,000. The report further claims that the price increase will only apply to the 350 cc and 500 cc versions of the Bullet, Classic, and Thunderbird range, while there's no info on the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
The publication says that the price increase is attributed to a surge in manufacturing costs. That said, prospective 650 Twins customers' need not fret, as the hike is not applicable to the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. The 650 Twins were launched in November 2018, with the prices starting at INR 2.49 lakh* for the Interceptor 650 and at 2.65 lakh* for the Continental GT 650.
Speaking of the twin-cylinder offerings, Royal Enfield sold 629 units of the 650 Twins in its first full month of sale (December 2018). While the numbers might seem too low when compared to the sales of other Royal Enfield bikes, it's the highest for any premium twin-cylinder motorcycle in the country.

Post the launch of the 650 Twins, Royal Enfield has been updating its fleet with the introduction of dual-channel ABS. However, the Bullet 350 is yet to receive the safety net of ABS, which we expect to happen by next month. Furthermore, the company is also preparing to launch the Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 350 and the Bullet Trials 500 in the domestic market, which are mostly the Scrambler versions of the Royal Enfield Classic range.
