Just two days ago we learned ‘Santro’ is the choice of 30% of the Hyundai Naamkaran respondents. In the latest, Hyundai’s brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan confirms that this is the name the company has picked for its upcoming entry-level car codenamed 'AH2'.

In a recent interview with carandbike, Shah Rukh talked briefly about his old Santros and revealed that he would own the “new Santro”, referring to the AH2. The Bollywood star remains Hyundai’s brand ambassador for two decades now. The South Korean automaker loves adding prefixes and suffixes in car names in India. In the global light car's case, it has attached ‘Xing’ before. Reports say the new generation model would also have a suffix in the name.

The AH2 hatchback rides on the old i10’s HA platform and features a tall-boy design. Its teaser image gives away the distinctive kink in the beltline. The new entry-level vehicle replaces the Eon that reportedly goes out of production by December. It will employ an enhanced version of the Hyundai Santro Xing’s 1.1-litre petrol engine. Transmission choices will include 5-speed manual and 5-speed ’Smart Auto’ automated manual - a first in a Hyundai.

Key features expected of the next-gen Hyundai Santro are full wheel covers, keyless entry, all four power windows, touchscreen infotainment system, digital MID, two-tone upholstery, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, speed alert system and driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder.
