The Skoda Kodiaq has been a diesel-only SUV in India since its launch in October 2017. According to a new report from ZigWheels, a petrol engine option will be introduced in 2020.

Skoda should offer the Kodiaq petrol in India with the 1.5-litre TSI Evo engine married to the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission in FWD.

Internationally, petrol engine options for the Skoda Kodiaq initially included the 1.4-litre TSI unit in 125 PS/200 Nm and 150 PS/250 Nm versions and the 2.0-litre TSI unit rated at 180 PS/320 Nm. With the introduction of the Laurin & Klement equipment line in February last year, the 1.4-litre TSI engine was replaced with the 1.5-litre TSI Evo engine (150 PS/250 Nm) and the 2.0-litre TSI engine's maximum power was bumped to 190 PS.

The 1.5-litre TSI Evo engine has automatic cylinder deactivation technology, a feature that was included in only the high-output version of the 1.4-litre TSI engine, as standard. It can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission or the 7-speed DSG transmission. On choosing the latter, customers can opt for an AWD system.  The 2.0-litre TSI engine comes paired with the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission that works in tandem with an AWD system as standard. In India, expect Skoda to offer the Kodiaq petrol with the 1.5-litre TSI Evo engine married to the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission in FWD.

The Skoda Kodiaq diesel sold in India uses the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that develops 150 PS and 340 Nm of torque.
