Likely to debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

Last week, Skoda revealed the design of the Skoda Kodiaq in a new set of sketches. Drawing cues from these sketches, a speculative rendering by IAB's automotive illustrator Shoeb Kalania previews the Skoda Kodiaq's exterior.

Skoda has confirmed that it will take the wraps off the Skoda Kodiaq in September this year, hinting a 2016 Paris Motor Show debut on the 29th or 30th of that month. Thus, market launch of the Czech automaker's first mid-size crossover should happen in late-2016 or early-2016, starting with Europe, of course. An Indian launch of the Skoda Kodiaq, as per a report released in April, will happen in 2017.

The Skoda Kodiaq will be based on the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform. It's expected to have considerable commonality with its upcoming German counterpart, the VW Tiguan XL (VW Tiguan LWB) that will enter production in Mexico in Q1 2017. The Kodiaq will be Skoda's first model to be designed using the Skoda VisionS concept's design language.

The Skoda Kodiaq is expected to be offered with 2.0-litre TSI petrol and TDI diesel engine options at launch. A plug-in hybrid variant is said to be a part of the long-term plans, but details are sparse. The European media reports that the electrified variant may not be launched before 2019.
