Skoda Kodiaq to launch in India shortly - Report
After the Skoda Monte Carlo in August, Skoda launched the Skoda Octavia RS in India this month. Next, the company will launch the Skoda Kodiaq in the country shortly, putting the launch on track for the previously revealed September rollout.
Skoda has already listed the Skoda Kodiaq in India. The Kodiaq is the Czech automaker's first mid-size SUV and is derived from the Skoda VisionS concept that is the new design direction for the company's SUVs. Launched internationally in February this year, the SUV has sold 37,100 units globally as of July.
Based on the MQB platform, the Skoda Kodiaq is 4,697 mm long, 1,882 mm wide and 1,676 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,791 mm and offers a ground clearance of 194 mm. There are two different versions available: 5-seat and 7-seat. The 5-seat Kodiaq offers 720 litres of luggage space, expandable to 2,065 litres on folding down the rear seats. The 7-seat Kodiaq version has 270 litres of boot space, which one can increase to 630 litres on folding down the third row of seats and to 2,005 litres on folding down the second row of seats. Skoda will launch the 7-seat version in India.
The Skoda Kodiaq is available with 1.4-litre TSI petrol, 2.0-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines. The Indian-spec version, reports suggest, will have 132 kW (176.94 hp) 2.0-litre TSI petrol, 110 kW (147.45 hp) 2.0-litre TDI diesel and 140 kW (187.67 hp) TDI diesel engine options. Output figures may slightly vary for market-specific tunings. Spy media has confirmed the availability of a four-wheel drive system.

The Indian-spec Skoda Kodiaq is expected to have features like full-LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, LED tail lamps, 18-inch Trinity alloy wheels, 8.0-inch Amundsen touchscreen infotainment system with 2.5D navigation and SmartLink+ for Apple CarPlay Android Auto and MirrorLink, Area View system with surround-view cameras and three-zone Climatronic climate control. Prices should start somewhere in the INR 30 lakh (ex-showroom) region. Deliveries could commence in October, just in time of the festive season.
