Rendering - Skoda Octavia Coupe to debut at Geneva Motor Show

Auto Express reports that Skoda will debut a four-door Octavia coupe at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, which takes place in the first week of March 2014. The publication reports that the Czech carmaker would show a pre-production concept at the show.

The Octavia coupe would rival the VW Passat CC, and would sport similar design highlights such as a lower roofline, a raked windscreen and frameless windows. Its reported that the Octavia coupe would have the same wheelbase as the sedan, and even the bootspace at about 1,500 liters (with the rear seats folded) would remain the same.

Rear seat headroom is sure to take a hit, though Skoda would hope that customers choose the coupe for its design rather than functionality. Though a three-door bodystyle would have looked better, Skoda felt that a four-door version strikes the ideal balance between practicality and design.

To distinguish itself better from its sedan alternative, the Octavia coupe would have redesigned triangular headlights, an all-new bumper and a slightly widened Skoda grille. The insides of the car are expected to be identical to the regular Octavia, as are the engine options and gearboxes.

According to the publication, Skoda will emphasize more on design in the coming years. The company will axe the Roomster, while introducing design-oriented models such as the Rapid Spaceback and Octavia coupe.
