Geneva Live - Skoda Octavia Scout
The Skoda Octavia Scout gets its public premiere at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Based on the Octavia Combi (Station Wagon), the Scout further appeals as an all-rounder with its off-road inspired looks and all wheel drive system.
The Scout does not merely sport visual enhancements. The ground clearance is upped by 33 mm over the standard Octavia Combi and an all wheel drive system with a Haldex-5 coupling is offered as standard. By using this setup, Skoda claims that traction has increased by 25 percent.
Thanks to the increased ground clearance, the approach and departure angles of the Scout are much better compared to the Combi on which it is based. Skoda will offer the Octavia Scout with a choice of one petrol and two diesel engines.
Feature additions come in the form of 17-inch alloy wheels, three-spoke leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, black panelling on the wheel arches, protective side moldings and silver skid-guards for the front and rear.
In India, Skoda offers only the sedan/notchback version of the Octavia. With the first generation Octavia, Skoda India offered its estate version as well, however, due to a non-existent demand for such body styles, the model was discontinued.
