The special edition Suzuki Intruder SP was launched in India ahead of the festive season. Features that help the SP badge model stand apart include metallic matte black paint with a red accent that runs from the fuel tank all the way to the rear panel. The special edition cruiser also gets a pillion backrest featuring the Intruder branding that further enhances the cruiser persona of the bike.

Buyers can select the Suzuki Intruder SP in carburettor and fuel injection variants. The carburettor variant is priced at INR 1,00,500 while the fuel injected version carries a marginally premium at INR 1,07,300 (both, ex-showroom prices).

Speaking about the launch of the new Suzuki Intruder SP, Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India said that the Special Edition will lure cruiser customers.

Regarding sales, Suzuki sold just 954 units of the Intruder in September 2018. The year-on-year sales performance was positive as the two-wheeler brand sold 63,410 units in September 2018 versus 50,808 units in the corresponding month last year. The year-on-year growth stood at 24.80 percent in the month of September 2018, growth fuelled by the Suzuki Burgman Street and Suzuki Access 125.

The changes to the special edition Intruder are limited to looks. It is powered by a 154.9 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC engine that is tuned to deliver 14.8 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm on both variants. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The kerb weight of the motorcycle stands at 149 kg (FI) / 148 kg (Carburettor).

Hardware specifications continue to feature conventional telescopic suspension at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear. Disc brakes on both ends provide stopping power while single-channel ABS enhances the safety net. All the ride related information is displayed on the full-digital instrument console.

The alloy wheels are wrapped in 100/80 – 17 section tubeless tyre at the front and 140/60R – 17 – radial tubeless tyre at the rear.

The Suzuki Intruder SP's backrest gets the 'Intruder' branding. The motorcycle has been priced at INR 1,00,500 (carburettor variant) and INR 1,07,300 (fuel injected version) - both, ex-showroom.
