If there is a Chinese car I wouldn't mind buying, it would be this - The Qoros GQ3.

Time for some explaining. If you're pondering why you haven't heard of Qoros, that's because the GQ3 is their first attempt at making a car. Qoros is a joint venture between Chery Automobiles of China and Quantum LLC of Israel. The Israeli's and the Chinese have come together and have made a car it seems.

The test mule of the sedan was caught testing in China wearing an interesting camouflage that has Qoros written all over the car.

The design of the GQ3 is not overdone, unlike a typical Chinese car. It looks plain and simple but we should say that those rear lights resemble that of the VW Passat. The reason why the looks of the GQ3 don't repel you is because the design chief is ex-Mini and BMW design head, Gert Hilderbrand. Qoros, it seems is taking things very seriously.

The good news does not stop there. Hilderbrand will be joined by Klaus Schmidt, the former chief engineer of vehicle performance and chassis at BMW, Peter Matkin, former chief engineer at Jaguar Land Rover and Roger Malkusson, a former chief engineer at Saab.

The GQ3 will mostly be powered by a 1.6-liter turbo-petrol or a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated petrol. Options of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT will be available as well.

Qoros does not intend to stop with the GQ3. In their teaser, we have seen that a compact crossover and an estate will also be joining the lineup.

The GQ3 will be premiered at the Geneva Motor Show and sales for the Chinese market would commence after it is shown at the Shanghai Motor Show.
