Spied - Ssangyong Korando facelift caught testing in Korea
The Ssangyong Korando, a compact five seater SUV that's positioned in the C Segment, is witnessing decent demand in Korea and Russia. As the product hits its mid-life period, cosmetic changes aren't far away.
The Ssangyong Korando, originally penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro's Italdesign, is easily the most conventional looking member in the South Korean car maker's family. As you can see from these spy pictures that are courtesy of Autospy.net, there is no dramatic change to the metallic body panels.
The front fascia is fully camouflaged to keep us guessing about the changes and it also suggests the face could have a comprehensive makeover. The headlamp elements are all new and feature projector bulbs that are surrounded by turn indicators and LED daytime running lights.
The taillights are expected to have reprofiled elements and that about wraps up the the exterior changes. We expect the interior to undergo such subtle upgrades.
And there is no major change expected in the powertrain department as well. The Korando is powered by 2.0 litre petrol and diesel engines. The petrol motor develops 149PS while the oil burner is available in two states - 149PS and 175PS. Engines are paired to 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
The Korando is probably the next Ssangyong product to grace our shores. The challenge for Mahindra would be to convince customers to pay a premium for the Korando over its own XUV500 which is more spacious and better spec-ed.
