Ssangyong Rexton W caught testing again, launches during Diwali
Team-BHP member kar.carthik recently spotted the Ssangyong Rexton W testing once again, this instance on the Bangalore - Pune highway.
If you have been following our updates closely, you would have read that Mahindra has decided to ditch the pre-facelift model for the Rexton W.
The new Rexton W was showcased at the Busan Auto Show in May with a 2-liter turbodiesel engine that comes with the option of a twin-turbo. The availability of the newly developed engine in India at launch is still a big unknown, though the test mules caught here appears to be wearing the RX270 badge, connoting the pre-facelift's 2.7-liter Mercedes-sourced diesel engine under the bonnet.
The display model that graced the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, going by the badge, used the same engine. A 5-speed AT processes the power to the rear wheels.

The interior is appointed with a dual-tone black-beige combination, so Mahindra has done their market research properly. Smart Key, Cruise Control, Rain Sensing wipers and Bluetooth connectivity are a few of the gadgets providing convenience and entertainment to the occupants of this seven seater.
There is no debate on where the Rexton W would be positioned - it will voyage into a new segment, assuming the role of a flagship offering in the Mahindra range. And as such is the case, it is essential to sell the most recent or updated variant as the customer would refuse to shell out 20 lakh rupees on a product that looks dull and outdated.
The Rexton W will be assembled in India and priced to compete with the Fortuner and Captiva. We expect Mahindra to introduce the Rexton W during Diwali. The Rexton W, Mahindra would be hoping, is another XUV500 in the making.
