Spied - 11 seater Ssangyong Rodius spotted in India for the first time

The new Ssangyong Rodius (also called as the Korando Turismo in some places) was officially unveiled early this year. The MPV made its European debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, where Indian Autos Blog was able to check out the gentle giant up close.

A Team BHP member named '//M' has posted some photos of the Rodius in India. It was spotted in the Mahindra facility in Kandivili, Mumbai. Surprisingly, the car was caught without any camouflage.

New Rodius marks a clear styling departure from its predecessor, often called as the Ugliest Car in the World.

And thanks to the lack of camouflage, you can check out the Maybach rivaling length of the Rodius and it's huge proportions. Where manufacturer's generally restrict to three rows of seats, the Rodius does with an added fourth row! As a result, you can fit your family of 11 people in the Rodius!

New Rodius sports a Hyundaiish rear.

What powers this Tempo Traveller rivaling MPV you ask? It's a 2.0-liter e-XDi200 LET (Low End Torque) diesel engine. It produces 155bhp of power and churns 360Nm of torque. You can either spec a 6-speed manual transmission or a Mercedes sourced 5-speed automatic unit. The gearbox sends power to all four wheels via an electronic 4WD system.

No your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That's four rows of seats!

The Rodius also benefits with features like ESP (electronic stability control), ARP (Anti Rollover Protection) and BAS (Brake Assist System).

When we saw the Rodius in Geneva this year, we were blown away by the amount of cabin space. We wondered if it was designed for the WWE Wrestler Khali!

So does this mean that Mahindra are considering bringing the Rodius to India?

Mr. Mahindra tweeted earlier this year on being kicked about its chances in India.

We don't know that yet. The last time we spoke with a Mahindra official about the Ssangyong brand in India, we were told that the company was taking things slow and reacting to the Rexton's demand.
