Ssangyong Tivoli diesel launched in Korea - IAB Report
Part of company's turnaround in the local market.
Six months after Ssangyong launched the petrol-powered Tivoli in Korea, the company has added a diesel variant, thus increasing its appeal to a wider audience.
The diesel-powered Ssangyong Tivoli packs a Euro 6 e-XDi160 1.6-liter engine producing 115 PS and 300 Nm of torque between 1,500-2,500 rpm range. It is paired to a 6-speed Aisin automatic gearbox, and claims to return a fuel consumption figure of 15.3 km/l (2WD A/T, based on Korean standard).
The Tivoli measures 4,195 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, 1,590 mm in height and 2,600 mm in wheelbase. It is equipped with a long list of safety features such as 7 airbags, ABS, ESP, Hill start assist, active roll protection, and front and rear disc brakes.
The price of the Ssangyong Tivoli diesel ranges from 20.45 million won to 24.95 million won (INR 11.18 - 13.64 Lakhs), depending on the trim and optional features chosen. At the launch, Ssangyong has also confirmed that a long-body version of the Tivoli will debut early next year, in a bid to expand sales of its stylish and affordable compact SUV to 100,000 units next year.
Global sales of the Tivoli diesel will begin right after being showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

For the Indian market, parent brand Mahindra is considering the idea to launch the Tivoli in India. If so, it will accompany the lone Ssangyong Rexton in the company's Indian product range.
