IAB Report - Ssangyong X100 to be called 'Ssangyong Tivoli', launches next year

Is based on the XIV Concepts.

After making multiple appearances in the concept form across the world and obviously showing up in spyshots as the Ssangyong X100, Mahindra-owned Ssangyong's next compact crossover has been named. To be called Tivoli (named after the Italian town), the vehicle will be the smallest and least expensive vehicle from the Korean company.

The Tivoli will offer practicality, style and plenty of storage solutions, says the company.

Though it was showcased in a near-production form the Paris Motor Show as XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure, the official renders released by the Korean carmaker today show how the production version will look like. Engine options for the Tivoli will include 1.6-litre petrol and diesel units, while in terms of dimensions, it is expected to be slightly longer than 4 meters, much like the above mentioned XIV concepts.

The interior is designed to offer "easy connectivity" to smartphones and tablets.

Although Mahindra made it clear that the Tivoli's Indian arrival is undecided, it makes a lot of sense in a market like India where the compact SUV/crossover segment has seen a huge growth, both in terms of products and sales alike. Moreover, Ssangyong is a one-car company and with the Rexton, its playing field is a small SUV sub-segment, here.
