Ssangyong Tivoli compact SUV spied in Chennai
Could be assembled and launched in India soon.
The Ssangyong Tivoli has been spied testing in Chennai by Motor Vikatan. Rumors of its launch in India have been circling for a while, although parent manufacturer Mahindra hasn't confirmed its arrival, yet.
The rumor mill went in full swing when the Tivoli was showcased for the first time in India at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. However, Mahindra officials have only stated that the company is evaluating its launch in the Indian market. If launched, it could accompany the lone Ssangyong Rexton in the company’s Indian portfolio, and widen the appeal of the Korean brand in the market.
It would likely be available in both petrol and diesel variants sold in other markets. The petrol variant would pack a 1.6L e-XGi160 petrol engine that outputs 126 PS and 160 Nm of torque, while the diesel variant's 1.6L e-XDi160 turbodiesel engine is capable of 115 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox for both variants, while a 4WD system may not be included in the options list of the India-spec Tivoli.

The Tivoli was recently launched in Nepal, where it's priced from NPR 5,375,000 (around INR 33.66 Lakhs). The India-spec model would likely be locally assembled and sold, thus bringing the price down to between INR 15-17 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
