Spied - Ssangyong X100 mini SUV

Ssangyong continues to test their upcoming compact SUV, which is codenamed X100. The Nissan Juke rivaling crossover will launch in January of 2015, with Korea and Europe being the first markets.

The Ssangyong X100 mini SUV will launch in early 2015.

The exteriors of the X100 will be inspired by the Concept XLV, which was showcased first at the Geneva Motor Show last month, followed by a China reveal at the ongoing Beijing Motor Show. Though the XLV concept sports 7 seats in a three-row configuration, the X100 will be a 5-seat vehicle. However, a 7-seat version will also enter production in the later half of next year.

The X100 will be positioned below the Korando C SUV. Based on an all-new platform (that will underpin the Mahindra S102), power for the X100 is reported to come from a newly-developed 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine.

The Ssangyong X100 is inspired by the Concept XLV.

Pricing wise, the X100 is expected to start from 15,000 pounds (INR 15.2 lakhs), while in Europe, it will compete with the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur, Nissan Juke and Vauxhall Mokka.

Ssangyong announced that it wishes to double sales within the next three years, and models such as the X100 will be instrumental in achieving that target.
