Mr. Atul Gupta, Executive Vice President, sales and marketing, Suzuki Motorcycle India, has stated that the firm's current sales split of scooters and motorcycles stands at 80:20 in favor of the scooters. Suzuki currently sells around 3.5 lakh units of scooters a year and with a market share of 12%, the brand is positioned fourth in the burgeoning segment trailing Honda, Hero Motocorp and TVS.

Mr. Gupta says that in the next 3 years, the company is aiming to sell 7.5 lakh two-wheelers with an ideal mix of 65% scooters and 35% motorcycles. He also added that the upcoming Suzuki automatic scooters will be catering to 100 - 125 cc segment as there are no plans to explore the 150 cc segment.

The automatic scooter segment, especially the 110 cc space is rapidly gaining acceptance among Indian customers. The segment stalwart, Honda Activa, finished as the second best selling two-wheeler in the country in 2013, highlighting the significance of the automatic scooters.
