Suzuki Ciaz 1.25-liter - 2015 Bangkok Live

Suzuki Motor Thailand presented the Suzuki Ciaz sedan that is compliant to the ‘Ecocar’ rules (Phase 1) of the country at the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show which commenced today. The full-fledged B-segment sedan will be sold later this year in the domestic market with a mileage of about 20 km/l.

The Ciaz, to avail such ‘Ecocar’ benefits, gets a smaller 1.25-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine (K12B) generating 91 hp (output as reported by Thai media), which is paired to a CVT automatic transmission. Both the engine and gearbox is shared with the Thai-spec Swift hatchback.

Measuring 4,490mm x 1,730mm x 1,475mm (LxWxH) the car intends to compete with the Honda City, Nissan Almera (Sunny) and the Toyota Vios. It is to be noted that the City and Vios are not marketed as an Ecocar, and hence come with larger 1.5-liter engines.

The Ciaz may also get other fuel-saving systems like automatic stop/start. The car features ABS, dual airbags, touchscreen infotainment, parking camera at rear and climate control depending on the trim.

The Ecocar-spec Ciaz sedan will be made at the Rayong plant, alongside the Swift and Celerio, from June. The company has not announced the prices yet officially, but it is likely to be around 500,000-680,000 Baht (INR 9.5 lakhs-13 lakhs).
