Four Suzuki dirt bikes heading to India - Report
After Kawasaki, Suzuki Motorcycle is reportedly bringing new dirt motorcycles to the Indian market. Autocar India reports that four new Suzuki dirt bikes are heading to India. The report further adds that dealers have already received the RM-Z250 motocrosser while other models will arrive soon. All the four motorcycles are CBU route and thus would arrive with an expensive price tag.

The dirt motorcycle line-up will include the DR-Z50, RM-Z250, RM-Z450 and RMX450Z. The motorcycle would only be allowed on tracks and not on public roads. Thus, you won’t find hardware like headlight, tail light, blinkers or rear-view mirrors on any of the bikes.
The off-road/trail riding focused motorcycles will receive wire-spoked wheels, wrapped in knobby tyres and a tall-set exhaust. The motorcycles would also receive high ground clearance to tackle any obstacle in their path. Suspension duties would be performed by upside-down telescopic front forks and monoshock units at the rear.
Delivery time, depending on the variant purchased would reportedly take between 15 to 20 days. The motorcycles have been priced at:
- DR-Z50: INR 2.65 lakh
- RM-Z250: INR 7.20 lakh
- RM-Z450: INR 8.40 lakh
- RMX450Z: INR 8.75 lakh

Mechanical specifications for the DR-Z50 include a 49 cc, four-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which will propel the motorcycle with a kerb weight of 54kg. This motorcycle will be targeted at young riders.
The RM-Z250 will use a 250cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor. The kerb weight is rated at 106kg while the seat is 955mm tall. The motorcycle will also feature fully adjustable KYB- suspension on both ends.
The RM-Z450 will come equipped with a 449cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The motorcycle weighs of 112kg (kerb weight) while the seat is 960mm tall.
The RMX450Z will use the same 449cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is seen on the RM-Z450. However, the motorcycle comes equipped with a headlight for enduro riding. Despite having a headlight, the RMX450Z, just like other upcoming Suzuki dirt motorcycles, will not be street legal.

The new dirt bike range are the only rivals for Kawasaki motorcycles in the same segment in the Indian market. Prices for the new Suzuki dirt motorcycles are in the same range as the Kawasaki bikes. With the first units already arriving at dealerships, it won’t be long before the Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler brand makes an announcement.
