Suzuki Escudo (Suzuki Vitara) - 2015 Tokyo Live

The Suzuki Vitara had its world debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and its JDM-spec version, the Suzuki Escudo, has made its debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The Suzuki iV-4 concept-based new generation model is 4,175 mm long, 1,775 mm wide and 1,610 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. These dimensions are same as the global version, Vitara.

The Suzuki Escudo is available with both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. Common to both configurations is a 1.6-litre M16A naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 86 kW (117 PS/115 hp) and 151 Nm (15.4 kg.m) of torque. Also common, is a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is rated at 18.2 km/l (2WD)/17.4 km/l (4WD).

The global version is also available with a 1.6-litre D16AA turbo-diesel engine that produces 88 kW (117 PS/115 hp) and 320 Nm of torque. The torque output of the aforementioned petrol engine is also higher, at 156 Nm. The petrol model is available with 5-speed manual transmission/6-speed automatic transmission and the diesel model is available with a 6-speed manual transmission in markets abroad.

Noteworthy features of the JDM-spec model include LED headlamps, automatic headlights, heated door mirrors (4WD), auto-dimming rearview mirror, 17-inch aluminum wheels, keyless push-start system, leather-wrapped tilt & telescopic steering wheel, leather and suede seat upholstery, auto AC and touchscreen infotainment system.

The new Suzuki Escudo is priced at ¥2,127,600 for the 2WD model and at ¥2,343,600 for the 4WD model.
