Suzuki to concentrate on introducing premium segment bikes - Report
Aims to achieve 5 lakh sales in India in 2016.
In an interview with ET Auto, Suzuki Motorcycle India Executive Vice President Atul Gupta said that the company will now concentrate on launching premium bikes of 150cc and above to attract the youth market. Suzuki believes that this strategy would help it chase over 30 per cent rise in sales at 5 lakh units in the current fiscal.
The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer will also launch bikes above 800 cc like the recently announced S1000 and S1000F, which will accompany the brand's Hayabusa and GSX-R in the super bike range. With the new launches, Suzuki is also looking to increase the sales of its super bikes by 40% to 400 units in this fiscal year.
However, the new strategy will not affect its mass segment motorcycle, the Hayate, although the company believes that focusing on the niche segment is the right step ahead.
Speaking on Suzuki's sales network, Mr Gupta has divulged that they're looking to expand the network with a target of 1,500 touch points by March 2016, 700 more than the current figure.
