The quarter-litre Suzuki Gixxer model's engine complying with the more stringent, BS-VI emission norms right from launch means that fuel-injection system, electronic control unit, an O2 sensor, three-way catalytic converter and an onboard diagnostic module will be included from the get-go. The BS-VI deadline is 1 April 2019, which is close to a year away. The BS-VI engine will reportedly be a 250 cc single-cylinder oil-cooled, 4-valve motor that delivers 26.5 horsepower. The close rival Yamaha Fazer-25 uses a 20.9 PS (20.61 hp) engine.

Suzuki will sell the quarter-litre Gixxer model in only a fully-faired version. A naked roadster version based on the Haojue DR300 will not be available. Hardware specifications of this model will include disc brakes on both wheels. Dual-channel ABS is said to be standard. The Yamaha Fazer 250 also comes with dual-channel ABS.

Suspension department will include conventional telescopic front forks and an adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear. Expect to see a full-LED headlight, LED tail lamp and a full-digital instrument console on the upcoming model.

The BS-VI engine may lead to a price much higher than that of the Yamaha Fazer-25, which retails at INR 1,43,680 (ex-showroom Delhi). There will be three colour options – grey, silver and blue.
