A new report from Motoroids suggests that the upcoming Suzuki Gixxer 250 will pack a dual-channel ABS and will be available in three colour options – grey, silver and blue. It adds that the upcoming motorcycle will be sold in only a fully-faired version, quashing rumours about a quarter-litre naked roadster based looking similar to the Haojue DR300.
Details about the mechanical specifications are scarce, although the source report claims that the upcoming motorcycle will draw power from a quarter-litre, single-cylinder, 4-valve, oil-cooled motor that will deliver a respectable 26.5 hp of maximum power. The claimed performance output sounds optimistic given that the motorcycle is not going to feature liquid cooling. The engine will most likely arrive with fuel injection tech, but it may not be made compliant with BS-VI emission norms until early next year. The performance number is at par with the Honda CBR250R. The quarter-litre, single-cylinder engine of the Yamaha rival, for reference, makes 20.6 hp.
Disc brakes on both wheels will provide the stopping power while the safety net, as mentioned above, will include dual-channel ABS as standard. Its rivals, the Honda CBR250R, the Yamaha Fazer 250 and the KTM 250 Duke also have dual-channel ABS.
Shock absorption department will include conventional telescopic forks at the front to keep the costs low and a monoshock suspension at the rear. The feature list of the upcoming motorcycle will consist of a full-LED headlight, LED tail lamp, full-digital instrument console and dual exhaust tips.
Suzuki should target the Yamaha FZ-25 and the Fazer 250 price range to introduce the Gixxer 250. So, expect to see a sub-INR 1.50 lakh* price tag for this model.
