Report - Auto Expo attendee Suzuki Gixxer green lit for Brazil

Suzuki will sell the Gixxer 150 in Brazil. The model made its global debut just before the Auto Expo 2014 and was shown to the public for the first time at the event.

A report, backed with the confirmation from Suzuki, on Brazilian web portal Noticias Automotivas says that the bike would compete against the Honda Titan and Yamaha Fazer there.

The carburetter-fed Suzuki Gixxer will compete against flex-fuel Honda Titan in Brazil.

The 150 cc Gixxer is set to be launched in India by August. The Gixxer is powered by a single-cylinder 155 cc carburetter-fed engine, for which the company hasn't released performance figures. However, the digital tachometer shows a 12,000 rpm rev band with the red line starting at 9,500 rpm.

Suzuki says that the bike's engine and its 'light and stiff' frame has been designed by the same set of engineers that developed the GSX-R series.

The Gixxer gets a 155 cc engine for which the company hasn't yet revealed details.

The Gixxer also gets Suzuki's SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) that gives the Gixxer 'broad low-end torque and dynamic mid-range power' says Suzuki. The bike also features a fully digital console, telescopic suspension at the front, stacked dual exhaust and mono shock suspension at the rear.

A fully-digital dashboard with a tachometer has been developed for the Gixxer.

In Brazil, it will compete against the Honda Titan, which, in 2009, became the world's first mass-produced motorcycle to run on the flex-fuel technology. The carburetter-fed Gixxer might stand at a disadvantage compared to the Titan in this respect.
