India-made Suzuki Gixxer launched in Japan with fuel injection
The Suzuki Gixxer is on sale in India since 2014.
Suzuki Motor has launched the Made-In-India Suzuki Gixxer in its home country of Japan. The motorcycle, unlike the Indian version which runs with a carburettor, gets fuel injection and a rear disc brake. In India, it is the Gixxer SF in the MotoGP livery that gets fuel injection.
The powertrain is a 154 cc single cylinder air cooled mill is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox and is capable of producing 13.6 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The Suzuki Gixxer in Japan meets the latest emission norms applicable since 2016.
The motorcycle is suspended on 41 mm front telescopic forks up front and a 7 step adjustable mono shock in the rear. Braking duties are administered by a 266 mm single disc in the front and a 220 mm disc in the rear. A drum brake version will not be sold in Japan. The bike tips the scales at 135 kg and the fuel tank can store 12 litres of petrol.
The bike gets a 140 section rear tyre which will help the rider get an adequate grip. The Suzuki Gixxer gets an all-digital LCD instrumentation with a gear position indicator and a gear shift indicator, and is available in three colours: Triton Metallic Blue, Glass Sparkle Black and Glass Sparkle Black/Candy Sonoma Red.
The Suzuki Gixxer has been priced at JPY 316,440, and the sales target has been set at 720 units annually.
