The new quarter-litre motorcycle features Suzuki Oil Cooling System. Paired with a six-speed gearbox, the 249 cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve, SOHC, fuel-injected engine delivers 26.5 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The performance numbers are at par with its rival, the Honda CBR250R, which mounts a 249.60 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve, DOHC motor that churns out 26.5 PS at 8,500 rpm and 22.9 Nm at 7,000 rpm.

The fully-faired quarter-litre Suzuki Gixxer features LED headlight and tail lamp, digital instrument console and fairing-mounted rear view mirrors and has a muscular styling. Steering duties are performed by clip-on style handlebar for a forward-leaning riding position. Rear-set footpegs further enhance the sporty ergonomics.

The motorcycle features a 12-litre fuel tank that has pronounced recesses for better grip around the corners and a dual-tone finish with a black strip running through the top-centre. A black strip is seen on the rear panel, above the tail lamp, as well.

A split-style, step-up seat follows the fuel tank and enhances the sporty looks. The body-coloured pillion grab-rail merges with the lines of the rear panel to give the bike a clean look. While the headlight and the tail lamp are LED, turn indicators are halogen units. The transparent cover blinkers come with orange bulbs inside. The compact, dual-opening exhaust has chrome tips and a heat shield. The Gixxer SF 250 tips the weighing scale at 161 kg (kerb). The motorcycle is claimed to deliver a fuel economy of 38.5 km/l.

The new Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF competes with the Honda CBR250R and the Yamaha Fazer-25 in the Indian market.

Stopping power comes from single disc brakes on both wheels, while the dual-channel ABS handles the safety net. Hardware specifications match those of its rivals - conventional telescopic front forks and monoshock at the back. The wheels are shod with 110/70R-17M/C and 150/60R-17M/C radial tubeless tyres at the front and rear respectively. The alloy wheels feature silver highlights to the spoke that adds to the premium looks of the package.
