Suzuki Grand Vitara 4Sport launching this month in Brazil - Report

Off-road centric version of the standard Grand Vitara.

A few days ago, spyshots of a rugged production-ready Grand Vitara testing had surfaced from Sao Paulo, which pointed to its possible launch in the country in the immediate future. The car was first showcased as a concept at the 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show as the Suzuki Grand Vitara 4Sport.

Autos Segredos is now reporting that the SUV will be launched in the country in June.

The Suzuki Grand Vitara 4Sport, akin to the concept, gets a black plastic grille, bumpers, side sills and wheel arches for better protection while traversing rough terrain. The raised ride height and black alloy rims also complement the tough appeal, while an extended intake snorkel ensures that it can wade through deep waters, or at the least adds to the adventure quotient of the vehicle.

Since it's based on the top-spec model, the interior could be equipped with a touchscreen multimedia infotainment system, GPS with navigation, automatic climate control, 2-DIN music player with steering wheel mounted audio controls, ABS with EBD, and dual airbags.

The SUV packs a 2.0-litre petrol engine delivering 140 hp at 6,500 rpm and 186 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It is paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission and a standard 4WD system.

The current Suzuki Grand Vitara has no successor planned for the coming years, so the Grand Vitara 4Sport could be considered as a last hurrah for the aging SUV.
