Suzuki GSX-R250 (Suzuki Gixxer 250) - Rendering

A milder GSX-S250F could also be introduced.

Japanese publication, Young Machine, has created a rendering of the upcoming Suzuki GSX-R250 (Suzuki Gixxer 250). The rendering also includes a Suzuki GSX-S250F, which based on looks appears to be a softer, more road-going variant of the R250.

The Suzuki GSX-R250 (Suzuki Gixxer 250) is expected to be unveiled at the Intermot 2016 or EICMA 2016.

However, the design of both motorcycles are inspired by larger Suzukis including the likes of the Suzuki R1000 and GSX-R600. However, they're expected to borrow their powertrain from the Suzuki Inazuma, which was discontinued in India in March 2015 owing to poor sales. On the Inazuma, Suzuki employed a 248 cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine capable of 18 kW (24 hp) at 8,500 rpm and 22 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, and paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

In a recent report, Suzuki Australia's Marketing Manager for motorcycles, Mr. Lewis Croft, was quoted saying that the company will make an announcement regarding the Suzuki GSX-R250 (Suzuki Gixxer 250). Multiple publications anticipate the motorcycle to premiere at the at either the EICMA 2016 (which starts on November 10) or the Intermot-Cologne (which starts on October 5).

Power for the Suzuki GSX-R250 is expected to come from the same engine powering the Suzuki Inazuma.

While a market launch in Europe and other South East Asian markets could take place this financial year, Suzuki Motorcycle India is yet to confirm the product for the Indian market. In an interview from earlier this year, Mr. Suresh Babu Janarthan, Project Leader for CBU Products at Suzuki Motorcycle India, reportedly said that the company will launch such a product in India “when the time is right".
