Launch expected in February in Japan.

Several brochure scans of the Suzuki Ignis, which was showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015, has surfaced online, revealing what we can expect from the sub-4m crossover when it launches in the Japanese market in February, reportedly.

The Suzuki Ignis is based on all-new lightweight platform from the Suzuki Baleno, which promises 30 percent better stiffness and 15 percent reduction in weight. The mini crossover measures 3,700 mm in length, 1,660 mm in width, and 1,595 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,435 mm.

According to Suzuki, the Ignis will offer “versatility for daily life and leisure”, with a high view point, sufficient ground clearance and capability to go on snowy roads and rough tracks. Boot volume is rated at 258 liters with rear seats up, and 415 liters with them folded down. It will be available in three variants: Hybrid MZ, Hybrid MX and Hybrid MG.

The only engine available at launch is a 1.25-liter K12C DualJet petrol four cylinder engine with 91 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm @ 4,400 rpm, which is paired to an SHVS mild hybrid system with an electric motor that produces 3.1 PS and 50 Nm. It comes with a CVT and features an ALLGRIP AWD system as optional. Without the AWD system, the Ignis is capable of doing 28 km/L (JC08 cycle), whereas the AWD-equipped models can do 25.4 km/L (JC08 cycle). ABS and EBD come standard.
