Suzuki Ignis to launch in 2017 in Italy - Report

Gets an optional 4WD system.

According to a report on Motori.corriere.it, the Suzuki Ignis will be available in Italy beginning 2017. The publication was told about the Ignis's introduction by Junya Kumataki, who is responsible for product development for Suzuki, at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

The Ignis too is based on Suzuki's new platform, which features weight saving and increased stiffness.

The Ignis made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show with a 1.25-liter DualJet petrol engine with the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology. Paired to a CVT, the Ignis was shown with a 4WD system, though a standard front-wheel drive layout will be seen on the 'compact crossover'.

Kumataki said that the Ignis is based on Suzuki's new platform which increases stiffness by 30 percent and reduces weight by 15 percent. It is to be noted that the recently-launched Baleno rides on Suzuki's all-new platform as well, and is 100 kg lighter than the Swift which is both smaller, and less equipped in comparison.

The Ignis measures 3,700 mm in length, 1,660 mm in width, and 1,595 mm in height. The exterior of the Ignis is characterized by LED daytime running lights, projector headlights, alloy wheels, Baleno-esque wing mirrors and chrome enclosed foglights.
