Suzuki India to launch new S1000 and S1000F in July 2015 - IAB Report

The S1000 will come with ABS for the Indian market.

Suzuki Motorcycle India plans on launching the new Suzuki S1000 and the S1000F in the month of July this year. Ahead of their launch, the company's website features a 'Coming Soon' banner for both motorcycles, indicating that dealers may soon start accepting bookings for these 1-liter class bikes.

Power for both big-bikes come from a 999cc engine.

The new S1000 and the S1000F were unveiled at the INTERMOT 2014 in Cologne, Germany, in October last year. Both motorcycles are based on an all-new frame with technical highlights trickling from the GSX-R1000 K5.

Power comes from a four-stroke, four-cylinder DOHC liquid-cooled 999 cc engine matched to a 6-speed transmission. However, Suzuki is yet to announce the power and torque figures of this unit. The Japanese manufacturer says that this unit will provide "crisp" low-to-mid range performance though.

The new 1-liter motorcycles measure 2,115 mm in length, 795 mm in width, 1,080 mm in height (1,180 mm in case of the S1000F), 1,460 mm in wheelbase and have a ground clearance of 140 mm. Where the naked S1000 weighs 209 kg, the faired S1000F is heftier at 214 kg.

An inverted telescopic coil sprung suspension up front and a link type coil sprung unit at the rear perform suspension duties on these bikes. For braking, the bikes rely on a twin-disc setup at the front and a single disc at the rear. For the Indian market, both will get an ABS system (internationally, the S1000 is available without ABS as well).
