Old Suzuki Swift lives on in China with a minor facelift
We got the new Suzuki Swift, albeit some delay, in mid-2011. Our neighbours look to be content with the older avatar of the world famous hatchback.
Suzuki has decided to make the Chinese wait a bit longer before they get their hands on the new Swift. Spy shots of the old Swift carrying a minor facelift has come in today from China.
The Swift has been doing phenomenally well in India and hence we got the new car sooner than China. The Japanese small car specialist thinks that the old Swift has a little bit of life left in it for the Chinese market.
The hatchback has some minor modifications in the appearance front. The front bumper is fully taped suggesting that a reprofiling has been done. However the honeycomb grill and the headlamps clearly belong to the old Swift.
There is no change to the profile and the rear too is almost the same except that there are rear fog lamps, enclosed in honeycomb housings. The interior also has the same old design and layout.
There is no change in the powertrain department either. The car is powered by a 1.3 or 1.5 litre petrol engine. Suzuki expects that a subtle refresh will extend the Swift's life cycle a little longer.
