1.4-liter Boosterjet engine world premiered at Auto Shanghai 2015.

Suzuki could debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show in October, a new concept based on the popular Suzuki Swift hatchback. Motoring.com.au reports that the concept could feature a new turbo petrol engine and all wheel drive.

The Suzuki Swift Sport concept might get a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine that is mated to a revised version of Suzuki's Twin Clutch System.

The Swift Sport Concept will also show cues of the design for the next generation of the hatchback, apart from a sprinkling of rally-inspired aggressive bodywork. At a width of 1.8 meters, says the report, the car is also set to feature new and edgy aerodynamic parts.

The new engine is a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with the company's 'Boosterjet' technology. The same 1.4-liter engine with Boosterjet technology was earlier reported to feature in the Chinese version of the Suzuki SX4-based S-Cross, and world debuted at Auto Shanghai 2015. The bigger 1.4-liter engine is an addition to the 1.0-liter Boosterjet engine that made its debut in Geneva this year. It is said to be producing 136 PS and 220 Nm of torque mated to a CVT gearbox.

The hatchback is also likely to get a new All Wheel Drive system that temporarily disengages to a front-wheel drive at turns, only to re-engage when the accelerator is pressed again.

That said, the concept in Tokyo could also feature a hybrid component, Suzuki's 'S-energy' system which employs lithium-ion batteries to allow for full-electric cruising, in addition to the turbocharged motor.
