Five-door Swift Sport heads to Australia and our hearts bleed

Suzuki Australia has launched the five-door version of the 2011 Swift Sport in the domestic market claiming it has more power, more torque, better dynamics, better fuel economy and increased safety. The distinctive visual features of the Swift Sport are

  • A wider track with an all-new body kit
  • 17-inch alloys
  • A deep front grille
  • Bi-xenon headlamps
  • Blacked-out A and B pillars
  • Extra-wide dual exhaust tips
  • A composite-look rear diffuser

One the inside, we see:

  • Heavily bolstered front sports seats
  • Soft leather sports steering wheel
  • Start/stop button
  • Sports alloy pedals along
  • Sports gear shifter

Creature comforts like keyless entry and start, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, six-speaker audio system with USB connectivity and climate control air conditioning have also been added.

It is powered by a 1.6-litre engine mated to a 6-speed manual or an optional 7 speed CVT gearbox that generates 135 HP with 160Nm of torque. It has been made lighter by 30kg to increase performance and acceleration. 0-100km/h is aced in around 8.1 seconds.

The stopping power been upgraded too with thicker material on the rear pads as well as the front brakes covering a larger area for improved performance. Front suspension and steering have also been tuned for faster response rates to enhance handling through corners. Safety also finds its place with equipments such as seven airbags, ESP, ABS and EBD.

In Australia, the Swift Sport will be available in 6 colors such as Champion Yellow, Ablaze Red, Boost Blue, Snow White, Premium Silver and Super Black.

The manual will set you back by $23,990 (around 12.6 lakhs) and the CVT will empty your wallet by 25,990 (around 13.6 lakhs).
