Brazil - Suzuki SX4 S-Cross (India-bound) caught on test, debuts this month

Could get a more powerful 2.0L engine for South America.

The Suzuki SX4 S-Cross was spotted on test in Sao Paulo, Brazil, recently by a reader of Auto Esporte. The replacement for the old SX4 crossover which is sold in Brazil will debut at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show which starts later this month.

The SX4 S-Cross will debut at the Sao Paulo Motor Show for the Brazilian market.

The local media report that for South America, the SX4 S-Cross will not get the 1.6-liter petrol engine, and the 1.6-liter diesel is completely out of question. Instead, Suzuki is likely to use the 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine which produces 194 hp at 5,800 rpm and 187 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm.

This engine is seen on the current SX4 crossover, and it comes paired to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox. With the introduction of the new S-Cross, the transmission could be upgraded to a CVT unit. Both, 2WD and 4WD models will be on offer.

In South America too, the SX4 S-Cross will primarily rival the Ford EcoSport and the Renault Duster.

The S-Cross will replace the older SX4, and come with a CVT gearbox.
