We reported on 1 September that Suzuki dealerships in India have already started accepting bookings for the V-Strom 650 for a token of INR 50,000. Dealerships are currently taking reservations only for the Standard variant, and there’s no word on the launch of the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT model.

The company had displayed the V-Strom 650 XT at the Auto Expo 2018 in February. Suzuki Motorcycles India will assemble the bike from CKD kits made in Japan. The Suzuki V-Strom 650 will rival the likes of the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the upcoming Benelli TRK 502 and the SWM Superdual T.

The Suzuki V-Strom 650 is available in two versions - standard and XT. The standard variant comes with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels that run on road-biased tyres. It comes devoid of the engine belly guard, safety guards and handguards, which are standard on the XT model.

On the other hand, the V-Strom XT variant comes equipped with aluminium wire spoke rims and dual-purpose Bridgestone Battlax Adventure A40 tyres. The XT variant gets a list of optional touring accessories like a top-box, and hard-plastic panniers with saddle stay.

The V-Strom 650 shares its design with the Suzuki V-Strom 1000. The motorcycle features a large 20-litre fuel tank, high-set windshield, semi-fairing, and a comfortable seat. The bike has a saddle height of 835 mm, and a kerb weight of 213 kg. The Suzuki V-Strom 650 receives switchable traction control, two riding modes, Suzuki Easy Start system, and a low-rpm assist.

The Suzuki V-Strom 650 employs a 645 cc, four-stroke, 90-degree V-twin motor with fuel injection. The liquid-cooled engine churns out 70 bhp of maximum power at 8,800 rpm along with 62 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. A 6-speed transmission works in tandem with the motor. The V-Strom 650 delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.3 km/l.
