Indonesia - Suzuki Wagon R 7-seater to get more attractive styling
Will be a LCGC candidate in the local market.
The Suzuki Karimun Wagon R 7-seater concept which was showcased at the IIMS 2013 in Indonesia will have a more attractive styling than the regular 5-seater hatchback when it enters production, says Davy J Tuilan, 4W Sales, Marketing & Director, PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales.
The Karimun Wagon R 7 Seater which was previewed at IIMS had extended length and additional rear quarter glass panels to mask the extension. The manufacturer has not revealed any technical details but had confirmed during the unveil that the wheelbase remains the same.
To be positioned as a direct competitor to the Datsun Go+ MPV which is another extended hatchback with a third row of seats, the Wagon R MPV will be eligible for tax benefits under the Indonesian government's Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) program.
The SIS official stated that development is still in initial stages and the budget people carrier is likely to enter production in the later part of next year or in 2016.
Considering that the Suzuki Wagon R 7 seater is a sub-4 metre product and is based on the existing Wagon R's platform, it would not be a surprising move if Maruti decides to bring it to India when its ready.
