(Maruti) Suzuki Wagon R AMT launched in Indonesia at INR 5.5 lakhs - IAB Report
Available on the Stingray model.
Suzuki will soon introduce an AMT (automated manual transmission) variant of the Wagon R in the Indonesian market, but prices of the car have already found their way on dealer shores.
The AMT will be offered on the Wagon R GS, which in the Indian market is known as the Wagon R Stingray. However, the design and mechanicals of the Indonesian car are identical to the Indian model: A 1.0-liter three-cylinder K-Series engine with 68 PS and 90 Nm powers both cars. The AMT, derived from the Celerio, will be a 5-speed unit manufactured by Italy's Magneti Marelli.
The Wagon R AMT will be sold in three variants: GL, GX and GS. Prices range from 113 million IDR to 121.5 million IDR (INR 5.51 lakhs to INR 5.92 lakhs), which when compared to the manual variant is a modest premium of 8 million IDR (INR 39,000).
Other features exclusive to the GS variant - multi-spoke alloy wheels and projector headlights - continue to be offered on the AMT variant as well.

For the Indian market, Maruti plans to similarly launch the AMT on the Wagon R Stingray, with reports claiming a launch by the end of this year. The supplier, Magneti Marelli, is building a factory to make AMT kits within Maruti's supplier park, and once it starts operations, Maruti can introduce the AMT technology on more of its offerings.
