Suzuki YRA (production Suzuki iK-2) spotted testing in the UK - Spied
Will launch in India this year.
Instagram user itsalexcushing and Twitter user Matt_Harding83 have captured the Suzuki iK-2 production version in the UK, which is also in its development cycle as the Maruti YRA. A newspaper report said last week that Maruti Suzuki would export the YRA to Japan and Europe.
Suzuki unveiled the iK-2 concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March and then at the Shanghai Auto Show, announcing that the production version would launch in Europe in early 2016. It also confirmed the 1.0-liter three-cylinder direct-injection 'Boosterjet' engine for improved fuel efficiency, that will go into the car.
In addition, the 1.2-litre K12B petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engines from the Swift may also be extended, and like the European Swift, a 4WD system could be optional on the iK-2. Suzuki also confirmed that an SHVS mild hybrid system would come in the production version.
The Suzuki YRA sits on a new platform that Suzuki says has improved "fuel efficiency, safety, handling, stability, and NVH performance across the board." The interior, exposed in earlier spyshots, showed the car with a 2-DIN audio system on the low-end and a touchscreen display on the top-end, cruise control, keyless entry with push button start, power folding mirrors and at least 2 airbags in addition to ABS and EBD.
