SWM Superdual X could be launched in India by February 2019
Kinetic MotoRoyale is considering to introduce the SWM Superdual X in India by February 2019. Yesterday, the company launched the SWM Superdual T in the country, priced at INR 6.80 lakh and INR 7.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the T Base and T models, respectively.
When asked about the possibility of launching the SWM Superdual X variant, Mr Ajinkya Firodia, MD – Motoroyale India, said:
“So, the SWM Superdual comes in two variants – the T & X, but the differences in the two models are minor. As you know, the Superdual is the only on-road, off-road 600 cc adventure tourer. The difference between T and X is that the T is more on-road and less off-road, and the X is less on-road and more off-road. The wheel sizes and the tyres on the Superdual X are a little different.”
Speaking further about the possible launch timeline of the Superdual X variant, he added:
“In the Indian segment, we thought we would want a bike, which is more on-road and sometimes goes off-road, and that’s why we launched the SWM Superdual T. We can bring the X if there is a demand, but as of now, I think, the difference is so minor that we’ll stick to this. It’ll take about 2-4 months to get the SWM Superdual X here, as It’ll take time to homologate the tyres and wheel sizes in India.”
The SWM Superdual's X variant is a thoroughbred off-road-oriented offering, which comes with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels wrapped in 90/90 R21 front and 140/80 R18 rear Metzeler Enduro 3 Sahara tyres. The X variant gets the optional GT Pack with the saddle stays and a pair of 33-litre aluminium side cases.
The SWM Superdual X uses the same 600 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor as the T variant. The fuel-injected engine pumps out 54 bhp of maximum power at 7,500 rpm and 53.5 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
