Back in November, Tork Motorcycles’ CFO stated that the shipments for the T6X are delayed indefinitely. The Pune-based electric two-wheeler company had launched the motorcycle in September 2016, at INR 1.25 lakh (ex-factory). Deliveries were previously expected to start from March 2017. Replying to a potential customer on Quora, Premanand Risbud, CFO – Tork Motorcycles said:

It’s a very long process. We have to undergo many tests to ensure safety and quality. Hence, we request you to be patient till we become ready for release.

The Tork T6X was spotted testing was the first time on Indian roads. The production-spec model could arrive by the end of 2019 or at the 2020 Auto Expo.

While there is still no word on the deliveries, a test mule of the Tork T6X electric motorcycle was spotted for the very first time, testing on the Indian roads. The test mule was camouflaged, and thus the production spec model is likely to take a while to arrive. Latest spy images reveal a flat-designed, halogen headlight that will most likely feature a body coloured mask. The mask also doubles up as a flyscreen. LED blinkers accompany the illuminator. The naked roadster style handlebar offers upright ergonomics while the relatively rear set footrests add a sporty touch to the riding stance.

The cockpit isn’t visible in the photographs, but a meter can be spotted on the left side of the handlebar, right next to the rear-view mirror.

Tank extensions would add a muscular look to the motorcycle. The tank would be followed by a single-piece, step-up saddle instead of a split seat unit. Unlike the previous photographs released by the company, the test mule revealed a trellis frame that is said to use the battery pack as the stressed member. The sub-frame, too, is exposed in the latest spy photographs. The tubular swingarm, meanwhile, is identical to the unit that was seen on the official photographs of the motorcycle.

The electric motor is placed underneath the rider seat, right behind the battery pack. Power goes to the rear wheel via a chain drive, featuring a large sprocket. Hardware specs include conventional telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear. Single discs at both ends perform the anchoring tasks.

Mechanical specifications include a 6kW electric motor, and thus the production spec model will come with CBS. The new safety norms mandate electric two-wheelers with up to 11kW of power output to come with CBS. The motor will deliver a peak torque of 27Nm.

The new spy images reveal an exposed sub-frame. The production-spec motorcycle could get a fibre panel to cover the sub-frame.

While there is no timeline from the company, the production-spec T6X should arrive by the end of 2019, or at the 2020 Auto Expo.
