India-bound Toyota Corolla facelift to get 1.2T engine in China
Same engine will be offered in the Toyota C-HR as well.
The 2016 Toyota Corolla (facelift) was revealed in March and had its world premiere in Russia last week. According to a report from PCauto.com.cn, Toyota will introduce a small turbocharged engine in the facelifted Toyota Corolla range.
The report says that the new turbocharged engine to be offered in the facelifted Toyota Corolla will be the 8NR-FTS 1.2-litre inline four-cylinder petrol unit that debuted in the Toyota Auris. It was recently showcased at Auto China 2016, and is planned to be offered in the Toyota C-HR compact crossover that goes on sale in Japan in December.
In the Auris, the 1,197 cc engine produces 85 kW (114 hp/116 PS) at 5,200-5,600 rpm and 185 Nm of torque 1,500 rpm-4,000 rpm, and can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission.

The China-spec Toyota Corolla is currently offered with the 1ZR-FE 1.6-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine that develops 138 hp at 6,400 rpm and 173 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm and the 2ZR-FE Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine that produces 120 hp at 6,000 rpm and 154 Nm of torque at 5,200 rpm.
