Powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine.

Ahead of its planned launch in the second half of this year, the Toyota Hiace was snapped testing on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway by a reader of Motoroids.

The Hiace will come to India as a fully imported model.

TKM (Toyota Kirloskar Motor) will launch the Hiace through the CBU (Completely Built up Unit) route, and reports state that it will be priced in the region of INR 40-45 lakhs. For the Indian market, the Hiace will be aimed at tour operators as it would need a commercial vehicle registration.

Power for the Hiace would come from a 3.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine - borrowed from the Fortuner - developing 136 PS and 300 Nm of torque, paired to a 4-speed transmission.

Power-sliding doors, a 6-speaker audio system and a reverse parking camera are some of the features that will be seen on the Hiace. Safety features on the Hilux will include dual front airbags and ABS.

The Hiace will primarily target tour operators and hotel shuttle operators.

The Hiace is likely to be TKM's only major launch in India this financial year. The next financial year though will be a busy one for the Japanese car maker with the introduction of the 2016 Fortuner and 2016 Innova.
